3DN1 is a design-and-print product. This page says what we store, why, and how to delete it. Plain language. No sale of personal data.
Accounts
When you create an account we store the email you type and a scrypt hash of your password. We do not store the password itself. The same account works on 3dn1.com and in the 3DN1 app.
Sessions
After you sign in, a session token stays in your browser (or the app) so you do not have to type the password on every tap. Signing out clears that token on that device. Changing your password does not by itself sign other devices out.
Analytics
The public hub uses GoatCounter (3dn1.goatcounter.com). The print app and PWA use a separate GoatCounter site (3dn1print.goatcounter.com). Both count page views. They do not set cookies and they are meant as privacy-friendly analytics — not an ad profile. We do not use the data to track you across other companies’ apps or sites.
Orbit photos and scans
Orbit is user-generated content. Photos, videos, and the meshes we build from them live on the 3DN1 host so we can reconstruct the object and save it to your library. Treat them as yours. Do not upload pictures of other people without a right to do so. Account deletion removes the orbits and built or scanned parts we can tie to your account. If a build uses those images in Shape writer, they also go to Anthropic, as the next section says.
Shape writer
Shape writer is the Build step that drafts a CadQuery script — the shape script — from what you type. For that we collect the shape description (the text you type) and any scanned photos or Orbit images used for that build.
That content goes to print.3dn1.app, the 3DN1 host on Fly. From there the host sends it to Anthropic’s API. Anthropic is a third party. We use it to draft that script for Build. The draft can be wrong.
You tick Allow in the app (Settings → Shape writer) before a custom shape is sent. If you leave Allow off, and you do not use Shape writer, we do not send that content to Anthropic.
When you have not pasted your own key, 3DN1’s platform key is used. Anthropic bills 3DN1 for that use. Your own key is optional. If you paste one in Settings — one line that starts with sk-ant- — Anthropic bills that key instead. We store a saved key on your account and do not show it again. The printer key stays on the device.
Deleting your account removes the prompts, parts, and scans we store, and any Anthropic key you saved. What Anthropic keeps of what they received is their practice, not a guarantee from 3DN1. As Anthropic has described their commercial API, inputs and outputs are deleted within about 30 days, unless the content is flagged, the law requires them to keep it, or a different agreement applies.
To stop the send: leave Allow off, or do not use Shape writer. If you already allowed it and you saved your own key, remove that key in Settings → Shape writer (Clear key). Clearing it also drops the Allow agreement stored with the key, so the next custom shape waits for Allow again. If you allowed the host key and did not save your own, delete the account to remove that agreement and the copies we store. Until you do, do not use Shape writer if you do not want another description or scan sent.
Printer address and local network
On the 3DN1 app, the printer’s LAN IP (and any API key or camera URL you paste) is stored on this device so Send and Cam can reach your machine on your Wi‑Fi. That address is not uploaded to print.3dn1.app and is not a public listing. iOS will ask for Local Network permission for this. The library and your account still use HTTPS to print.3dn1.app.
Orbit photos, videos, and meshes you scan are uploaded to the 3DN1 host so we can reconstruct the object and save it to your library.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not use your account to run ads.
- We do not ask for more than the product needs: email, a password hash, a session, your parts and scans, the printer connection you set on the device, and, if you use Shape writer, the description and images in that section.
Children
3DN1 is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 created an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Delete your account
In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. That wipes this 3DN1 account and the parts, scans, and shelf you made, including prompts we stored and any Anthropic key you saved in Shape writer. It cannot be undone. Seed library parts that everyone can browse stay.
Without the app: request deletion on the web. Enter the email on the account. The request goes to support@3dn1.com. We delete the same account and data.
